Cry Out America
Also at Sequatchie County Courthouse !
Remember 9-11This is presented by Awakening America Alliance. It will take place on Saturday, September 11, 2010 at the local county courthouse from 12 noon to 1 p.m. This is free to the community.
In light of the danger to Bible believing Christians in this country, particularly from foreign cultures and religions, we are asking Christians to come to the Rhea County Court House at noon this Saturday, Sept. 11 and join in an hour of prayer and asking the Lord to have mercy on our nation. The theme is Psalm 61:5: “…thou hast given me the heritage of those that fear thy name…” This prayer meeting was begun because of the attack on the World Trade Center on September 11 and has been supported by various organizations, including the Awakening America Alliance. The hour is crucial for Christians to make a public show of their intent to stand by God and the Bible. Please join us in this solemn hour for prayer and singing.

County Executive Michael Hudson reported some information to us. One thing is he is in contact with Erlanger everyday helping with the feasibility study to try to get them to take over the North Valley Plaza. Another is the energy grant has been approved to replace units at the Court House and Library. He also mentioned that the budget passed at the last commission meeting with no tax increase.
City Mayor Dwain Land stated that this coming Thursday he felt that the City’s budget would also pass without a tax increase.
Missing Sequatchie County Money
Free cash, just get a government job. If this is what they found imagine how much is missing and not found. These people that steal from inmates and our education system are especially despicable. All this gets swept under the rug in Sequatchie County.
Report of Cash Shortages and Other Thefts in County Offices/Departments as Reported in Annual Financial Reports for the Year Ended June 30, 2009, and Certain Special Reports
Sequatchie County Office of SheriffThe county’s 2007-08 audit report reflected a cash shortage in the Sheriff’s Department of $2,011.81 in its inmate funds operations (personal funds taken from a person at the time of his arrest). This cash shortage resulted from receipted funds not being deposited to the official bank account or being accounted for otherwise. This cash shortage has been reviewed with the district attorney general and the county executive. Subsequent to June 30, 2009, employees of the Sheriff’s Department made contributions of $1,197 to apply toward the cash shortage.
Sequatchie County Office of SheriffThe county’s 2006-07 audit report reflected a cash shortage of $8,669 in the commissary operation of the Sheriff’s Office. This cash shortage resulted from commissary receipts not being deposited to the official bank account or otherwise accounted for. This shortage was reviewed with the district attorney general and county officials and subsequently investigated by the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI). On December 18, 2008, a former employee entered into a pretrial diversion agreement on charges related to this cash shortage and has agreed to pay restitution of $8,551.26. The difference of $117.74 ($8,669-$8,551.26) between the original shortage amount and the agreed to restitution amount was written off.
Sequatchie County SchoolsOn January 25, 2010, School Department officials notified auditors that a payroll discrepancy had been discovered. During the period July 1, 2006, through January 21, 2010, the payroll bookkeeper had issued checks totaling $31,710 to herself in excess of her allowable compensation. The payroll bookkeeper and two other School Department bookkeepers receive compensation, in addition to their regular salaries, for bookkeeping responsibilities related to special programs operated by the School Department. According to school officials, the bookkeepers are required to work extra hours to receive this additional compensation; however, there are no written policies and procedures on file at the School Department addressing work hours, overtime, or additional compensation. The payroll bookkeeper’s additional compensation from the adult education program was budgeted at $5,000 annually. As part of her duties, she calculated her overtime rate and additional overtime hours required to receive the additional compensation, prepared the budget and reports for the adult education program, issued payroll checks, and made direct deposits for payroll. The shortage was determined as the difference in the overtime reported on the payroll bookkeeper’s time reports and the amount she was paid from the adult education program, as follows:
Compensation Fiscal Compensation Based on Year from Aduit Reported Calculated
Total $ 44,500 $ (12,790) $ 31,710 * These amounts are through January 21, 2010.
The payroll bookkeeper resigned her position on January 21, 2010. This finding has been reviewed with the district attorney general.
Office of County ClerkThe county’s 2007-08 audit report reflected a cash shortage of $4,248.51 in the County Clerk’s Office. This shortage resulted from several motor vehicle title application transactions had been altered by an employee of the office. The county’s insurance carrier has paid $3,248.51 toward the shortage reducing the outstanding shortage amount to $1,000 on June 30. 2009. On January 26, 2009, the Sequatchie County Grand Jury indicted Michelle Farley, a former office employee, for theft of property of $4,248.51.

Dunlap, business tax hike, along with a large property tax increase in the county
Letter to the Editor From: Carol Gaddy
Aug. 27,2010,
In July of this year, on the front cover of SVEC Tennessee Magazine, was a smiling Couple being featured. The Tanners, a mom & pop business, making goat milk cheese. Working 14-16 hour days handling the entire process from milking the goats to aging The cheese. He from Kentucky, her from California, they chose to live in Tennessee. What a great testimony this is and I Thank the SVEC for sharing it with us. Bonnie Blue Farm, located in Wayne County began in 1999 the story informs.
This is what made America Great, the envy of the world!! It was a place where a man and his wife, with a vision, willing to work Hard, could build a business with their own two hands.
It reminds, of Proverbs Chapter 31, a virtuous woman. This woman is not lazy, she works with her hands and makes a product, sells it to the Merchants and with the money she gets from her labors, she buys a field.
Yes, my friends, I am saying, Small American Business is what made America Great! The American Constitution, American Culture, (as it was before we were invaded by false gods and laziness) our Liberty, freedom to implement our vision along with the grace of God, to stir up the precious Gift of God, He puts into His children.
I am encouraged by the Tanners story of success in Tennessee. However I am keenly aware, when wicked men sit in offices of authority, the people are oppressed. PROVERBS; For their heart studieth destruction, and their lips talk of mischief. Lay not wait, O Wicked man, against the dwelling of the Righteous; spoil not his Resting place.
In Dunlap, business tax hike, along with a large property tax increase in the county. A one / two punch, in the gut of every faithful, hard working, tax paying American. We are living under an expensive City government, out of control. Our Constitutional Rights come to us through County and State government. One of my neighbors got a three fold punch, because of the new flood plain map, he Was required to buy flood insurance at his business, in Dunlap. His business closed. The city of Dunlap along with an expensive Chamber of Commerce operation, Desires to promote foreign business more than American business, it seems! WHERE Is their Patriotism? They raise business taxes on small American commerce, and yet tell Foreign business, Please come to our valley, work our people hard, pay us low wage, make yourself lots of money off our sweat and pay NO TAX for YEARS!!

I will be attending the TCCE annual meeting in Memphis, Tennessee on August 18th and 19th.
On Tuesday August 3rd I attended a meeting at the University of Chattanooga hosted by Hamilton County, Chattanooga City and Southeast Industrial Development Association. This meeting was held in order to gather information for Sustainable Communities Regional Planning Grant. The data collected will be applied to a grant application that will serve as a planning vehicle for improvement in Southeast Tennessee and North Georgia. We in Sequatchie County are fortunate to be part of this new development initiative that will seek part of the $100 million in federal funds that are available to new sustainable communities. We have pledged our chamber office to development of this grant in hopes that we can be part of an improved economic situation.
The festival committee continues to function and approximately 28 attended the last meeting. The next work session will be held August 16th in the City Training center. Anyone interested in joining in this new adventure are welcome to attend the meeting.
Congratulations to all those that were successful in winning their respective races that was held on August 5th. A special thank you is in order for David Boston of David’s Computer for posting the results of the election on our new web site that is found under the heading of Government. David did this from his hospital room in Chattanooga after being admitted earlier in the day for medical test. He has shown his dedication to the community while faced with his own adversity. We hope you will join us in wishing him a speedy recovery.
HEAD OF TENNESSEE COMMITTEE FOR THE BILL OF RIGHTS ADDRESSES ‘NORTH CAROLINA RESTORE THE CONSTITUTION RALLY.’
PRESS RELEASE SUBJECT: HEAD OF TENNESSEE COMMITTEE FOR THE BILL OF RIGHTS ADDRESSES 'NORTH CAROLINA RESTORE THE CONSTITUTION RALLY.' About 300 patriotic citizens attended the Restore the Constitution Rally at the Guilford Court House National Park in Greensboro, North Carolina, on Saturday, August 14. Feted as an open-carry rally, June Griffin, one of the speakers stated she was happy to see armed patriots who were proud of their Second Amendment Rights and had no intention of giving them up. "It was good to see these men bearing arms, exactly as it should be, more like home-sweet-home." Mrs. Griffin wore her holster-apron which was once featured in international publications, both in New York and Germany. The left pocket contained a small Bible and the right pocket holds a pistol. According to one of the park rangers, fourteen states were represented at the Rally which featured speakers and political candidates, who followed an impressive presentation of the colors, singing of the Star Spangled Banner and a rousing welcome by those seated in front of the monument of the great Revolutionary War hero, Nathaniel Greene, after which Greene County in Tennessee is named. Greene was an important strategist in winning the Revolutionary War, whose strategy was to wear out Cornwallis and weaken him until the surrender at Yorktown. This was highly successful. One of his admirers, J. B. Griffin, wore an appropriate three-cornered hat nearly identical to Greene, whose statue showed his military posture riding a beautiful battle stallion. Mrs. Griffin was a part of the program in that she displayed the Tennessee copy of the North Carolina Bill of Rights which was recovered in an FBI sting operation. She was successful in gaining three copies for Tennessee, one of which is in the University of Tennessee Library at Knoxville and another in the Tennessee State Museum in Nashville. She holds the third copy and has used it at the annual Bill of Rights Banquet. "Tennessee should be very grateful to have this certified copy since Tennessee was a part of North Carolina before it became a State. As such it is covered by the North Carolina Bill of Rights which was presented by George Washington. He saw to it that each of the original 13 colonies were given a copy. The North Carolina copy was stolen during the Civil War. Its display in front of the podium at the 'N.C. Restore the Constitution Rally' made a perfect backdrop for the fiery speakers for Americanism as one after another praised the God of our Fathers and promised to stand by these Rights, without compromise, no matter what the cost. The original copies of the Bill of Rights contained 12 provisions. These provisions were circulated throughout the colonies for their ratification. Ten of the Articles were approved and were certified in 1791. Mrs. Griffin reminded all the elected officials and police officers at every level that they took a sacred oath to uphold these Rights and violation of that oath of office is grounds for impeachment. She was well received and given invitation to speak again at an upcoming Tea Party Rally in North Carolina. While she is an Independent candidate for Governor of Tennessee, yet she spoke, not as a candidate for public office, but rather as a dutiful citizen of these United States, and head of the Tennessee Committee for the Bill of Rights. She may be contacted at (423) 775-0774 for those interested in viewing the Tennessee copy of the Bill of Rights. June Griffin For God and Country
